Yuanjiang City Kusao Town Dialect Voice And Vocabulary Study

Caowei Town is located in the northwest of Yuanjiang city,which belongs to Hunan province and near Dongting lake.Its dialect was influenced by the official dialect of southwest China and the old Xiang dialect.So it has its own characters.But for a long time it even never attracted people'attention.Specially the vocabulary,no one has made a systematic analysis on it.On the basis of investigating in the locality, the author of this thesis has collected a large number of accurate materials.And she also tries to raveal the features of this dialect based on the description and analysis of its pronunciation and vocabulary.By doing this,the author hopes these can fill the gap in this field and provide materials for further reasearch on the dialects of Hunan province.The thesis consists of three chapters,an outline, pronunciation, vocabulary and the conclusion.The outline is a brief introduction on the history of Caowei Town and the situation of the dialect,adding up to an investigatory situation. Chapter 2 mainly describes the phonetic features of Caowei Town dialect.The author not only has made a detailed syllabary of homophone but also made a complete comparison of the literary reading and colloquial reading of the initials,finals and tone.Chapter 3 mainly describes the vocabulary features of Caowei Town dialect. The author not only has made a detailed syllabary of vocabulary but also given an analysis of synchronic and diachronic comparison on the vocabulary.Specially gives an initial probe into kinship appellation and parts of archaic words on the diachronic comparison.
