Chu teh-chun is a French-Chiese abstract artist with great reputation in the contemporary international world.Owing to his continous discovery and creation on the way of art and the further study of the art of the eastern and western culture he is well recognizable because of unique style of abstract painting, especially in it he adopted the color vacabulary of western oil paintings, and though it to express the poetic charm and mood of the traditional Chinese aesthetics and to create a"lyrical space".This paper, though the traditional of the light and color of Chu the-chun's abstract painting attempts to make further probe of the relationships between the process and backgrownd of the light and color in his works and the thoughts of the author.By this case analysis ,it is good for readers to have some reference on the fine arts of Chinese and western world in the further study and work creation. This paper argues that the mian characteristic of Chu the-chun's painting is the use of light and color,it is also the mian reason to form his unique style. The use of light and color is the combination of the form of light in western painting and the Yin-Yang theory of traditional Chinese philosophy, which is different rom the expression of the external light of western realism painting, meanwhile,it is not purpose on the physical reality of the objective physical image. The light in his painting is not only the formation of it but the content of it to express.Through the analysis of his work, the author thought that the expression method which originated from Chinese great freehand painting techniques played a cracial role in the effect of the flow of light and colors,,and it was this that became the key to the pursuit screen of his painting. At the same time,at this piont,he widened the gap with the other abstract painters and shape his own style which resulted from his control ability of paint and ink. Then the author made deep probe and analysis of the formation process of this light and color in his painting, thinking that as a painter, Chu the-chun is a man walks with two legs, one is the oil painting ,the other the Chinese painting;one leg is his recognition of western culture, the other is his pursuit of the traditional Chinese culture. Because of the recognition of the western culture,he feeled concisely of the true essence of the use of light by kembrandt, and due to his rich cultivation of Chinese culture he accepts easily of the art between abstract and figurative of Nicola de Stael, meanwhile inspired by it,he combined it with the Chinese great freehand painting technique then formed his unique abstract painting area. The two espects that the recognition of the westren cultuer and the cultivation of the Chinese culture miscibled perfectly,he didn't belong to the west at the same time not the east, but to himself. So he can pan the mysterious light of the paintings of Rembrandt freely and combined it with the abstract and concrete traditional Chinese painting, guiding by the Yin-Yang theory of Chinese philosophy which became the main role or his paintings and created the unique art style of Chu the-chun.Finally,the author thought that the use of light and color of Chu the-chun works, based on the cultural backgrownd of the painter himself, which possessed deep spirits of traditional Chinese culture all of this comes from his understanding of Chinese culture, and it was the root of his own art,and the root is spirit instead of somewhat signals. As a result, the author reached the revelations:the art was the fruit of the artist's soul and feeling, was the communication production between artists and audiences.By continual studying and reference on the road of art, instead of simple borrowing and blinding pursuit of current tread, but paying attention to his own cultural civilizition, this is the greatest achievement of my writing of this paper.
