In the history of Modern Chinese Literature, "New Romantic" which appeared in 1930s end, widely accepted in 1940s once made a stir. The two representative writers ofthis genre--Xu Xu and Wu Mingshi produced a number of romance and the romancebecame fashionable all over the country. On the one hand, "New Romantic" inherited the certain norms and narrative strategy of traditional romance writing .The inheritance makes "New Romantic" somewhat popular, On the other hand, "New Romantic" is quite different from or beyond the traditional romance writing because of the writer's own artistic quality and the changes of the time. This thesis will aim at inspecting the theme of "New Romantic"--romance writing.The complicated stories make "New Romantic" very popular. There are two main characters of the story. The first character of the story is the merge of classical legend and romanticism; The second character of the story is the change of "New Gift and Beauty " with the times.The narrative strategy of "New Romantic" is different from the traditional narrative approach. This is a new quality of the narrative strategy. In a sense, it also further enrichs the story of its significance and depth.The poetic pursue of "New Romantic" at the basis of principle of aesthetic individualism reflected the independence,personality and aesthetic of the literary. In the romance writing of "New Romantic" ,we can find construction of the significance of love, the deep Meaning of Love tragedy, philosophy meaning of love.The romance writing of "New Romantic" is comprehensiveness of elegant literature and light literature, unit of Chinese civilization and West civilization , communication of classical allusion and modern times. "New Romantic" is unshakable in the literary history, and its creative experience still has contemporary significance.
