On The Northern Song Dynasty Weapons Technology Management

Northern-Song Dynasty is a united dynasty which has a special significance in Chinese history. Both the territory and the political, military strength and diplomatic influence of Northern-Song, was the weakest in history. But which had developed the world's greatest cultural, economic and technology at that time. Especially the weapon technology of Northern-Song Dynasty, in terms of the world-wide, was the most advanced. The weapon technology of Northern-Song Dynasty, followed in the earlier Dynasties, and beyond them, it also had great influence to the future, or even the Western world. Although it had a highly developed technology, in foreign wars there were almost in a passive state, and eventually destroyed by the Jin Dynasty.In order to strengthen the overall management of weapons, the Northern-Song Dynasty specifically established the Junqi Jian as a comprehensive management agency, which responsible for the development of military technology, arms production supervision, the officials and craftsmen's award and punishment. This reflected its importance on weapons manufacturing and management. Also there was a specialized agency of the arms manufacturers-Zuo Yuan, and a specialized agency of the day-to-day custody-Wu Ku. However, because of the bureaucratic politics and the rulers' corruptions, and the nation in the policy's "culture heavy", which made lack of professional craftsmen. National weapon technology policy contradiction and the policies can not be a real implementation. So that, Northern Song Dynasty produced weapons' quality and its management are not in the same level. These reduced the army's force, and have a certain impact on the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty.
