Sergey Sergeyevich Prokofiev (1891-1953), a 20th-century Russian (and Soviet) composer, was as well as a pianist and conductor. His piano suite, Romeo and Juliet op.75, is considered as a marsterpiece standing out from global piano treasurable works. In this work, Prokofiev showed us a unique style of piano music with his particular composing skill and musical language.This thesis consists of three parts, all of which are mainly about Prokofiev′s piano suite Romeo and Juliet. Artistic career and composing experience of Prokofiev are exist in the first part. Followed by the next part, in which composing background and process of the suit are illustrated vividly. And every one of the ten pieces is accompanied with analysis of its musical language, style and characteristic. In terms of my learning and playing experience, I have analysed and elaborated on the following aspects in the last part: different ways of touching the keys in showing different strength, the playing requirement of lyric pieces, and the use of pedal,etc..Hopefully, this paper will offer a big help to learn more about this great musician,and provide some notices and references about his composing style and playing techniques of his works.
