Peter Singer's Animal Liberation Theory

The ethics mainly studied and discussed are interpersonal ethics,that is to say we have never thought of considering the species not including the mankind within the ethical category.However,since modern times,ethics had a new branch Ecological ethics,so as its name means,the ecological ethics should be studied and discussed is the ecological environment just means besides mankind,we divide within category that morals consider animals,plants,and the whole nature.At this point,have caused the debate competition between"the doctrine of human centre"with"doctrine of non-human centre".Meanwhile,the mankind has wanted to change the prejudice of animals that take root deeply for a long time,this assaults,or should say it is another revolution on a human intellectual history,the impact that can even bring with Darwin's evolutionism to us.At 1975, "the animal liberated" the publication of the book with the U.S.A. famous philosopher Singer Peter.Singer's "Animal liberation movemenf"having come to hold the prelude formally too.Before Singer,there are a lot of scholars had cared the right and welfare of the animal too.So Singer's"The theory of animal liberate"what a theory it is on earth,what rigorous demonstration it has,and what contribution to the ecological ethics on today, these questions are the original intention that I write this thesis.I hope to through my thesis,the ones that can let more persons know,understand Singer's"The theory of animal liberate",introspect oneself treat animal unfairness,for the ecological environment can have the health and sustainable development make our own contribution too.Chapter one of the thesis is mainly explaining before Singer,the attitudes towards animals of people,and having explained the idea of treating animals of western society emphatically here.And I proceed from two respects:First,from the introduction of The doctrine of human centre"origins historical and contents main,explain the deeply prejudice of against animals that take root at western peoples'consciousness.Another one is before Singer's "The theory of animal liberate"at the 19th century,what is the rudiment of animals protects,introduce the efforts and achievement which people made in protected animals before Singer.The chapter two,introduced emphatically about Singer's"The theory of animal liberate" background,and there are three levels.The first is the background at that time,especially the rise of the utilitarianism of Bentham,give the support to Singer about his "The theory of animal liberate".The second is the mankind and natural relation for a long time,especially the rise of'pet",then we just treat animals differently,this is a very important foreshadowing for Singer's"The theory of animal liberate" too.The third respect, the impact of the mankind especially western peoples' thoughts of Darwin's evolutionism,Darwin's evolutionism tells us actually mankind and animal do not have the absolute demarcation line,this to Singer's"The theory of animal liberate" is a very important basis in science and theory too.The chapter three,introduce the main content about"The theory of animal liberate"of Singer.Have divided three levels too,let everyone understand the main theory content and argument about Singer's"The theory of animal liberate" step by step.The first is the key of "The theory of animal liberate",and this is also the different between Singer's animal liberation movement and others_argued animals have feelings,and proceed from the utilitarianism,further prove that we should increase the animals'interests.The second respect is just set out from equal principle to condemn "The doctrine of human centre".The third is to encourage people to break through self-interests from the ethics,put our care of the morals from the mankind to expand to the animals.Finally the chapter four,describe the meanings of Singer's"The theory of animal liberate",and faced the others condemnation and misunderstanding of Singer, I maked explanations one by one on my understanding of Singer's"The theory of animal liberate".
