This thesis focuses on the application of using chunking approach (lexical approach) in teaching Chinese as a foreign language during the primary stage. Through using the theoretical and empirical research methods, this thesis firstly introduces the theoretical basis and application research of the approach, then through taking teaching experiment in class and analyzing the test results of the experiment, the thesis studies and validates the feasibility and effectiveness of using chunking approach (lexical approach) in teaching Chinese as a foreign language during the primary stage.The thesis is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, mainly introducing the motivation and significance of this research, review of the previous studies, the subjects,targets and methods of this research and the structure of this thesis.The second chapter describes the general management of chunking theory, the basis point of view of the chunking approach, the psychological basis of chunking approach, the classification and function of the chunking and so on.The third chapter introduces the principles of day to day activities of this teaching approach and teaching methods in spoken and written teaching of practical application.The fourth chapter includes the description of the experiment,experimental design,experimental procedure and results analysis.The last chapter is the conclusion, it mainly summarizes the advantages of this teaching approach and some inspiration of this teaching approach, meanwhile, it also points out the deficiencies of this study and some suggestions for future research.
