The study of the "oil nationalization" is facing one of the most important issue which has been the development of Chinese oil paintings to today, it is the to local-oriented direction and value goals of the ecesis of painting arts. Opened the Chinese art history, we can clearly see this period of history, oil paintings as a borrowed art, as soon as was introduced to China it was transformed by traditional culture, especially the development process of the Chinese painting in the past century, at the very beginning it adapted the Western art completely, then went to explore the native language form, and then went to promote the "Chinese style", "Chinese spirit" level. Today it seems that oil nationalization issue is not only a change of a particular style and techniques of oil painting, but also it is the examination to the soul and connotation of the nation, and is the Chinese oil painting going with the times, and the trend of convergence, beyond oneself, strategic issues of foothold in the world. Therefore, to study and develop the art of Chinese oil painting which is full of the Chinese cultural elements, the unique qualities, is every man of insight's who is bound to think about it.In this paper, during the new period of reform and opening up, the development of Chinese oil paintings is the main study period, because of the development process of Chinese oil paintings, which is always closely linked with the times change, real change in ideology, but also is the first to leave a mark in the arts and culture. In the volatile twentieth century, because of the old society, so many art workers were in exile, the reality of the Chinese community does not have the conditions for development of oil painting, although some men with wisdom commit to the development of oil painting, they are few and far between. After the new China was founded, the development of Chinese oil painting shows a very single form because of the impact of the Soviet socialist system, so that in the "Cultural Revolution", it gradually turned into didactic tool. In 1979, when the spring breeze of reform and opening up blew through China, human spirit in the new era was liberated, and the Chinese oil painting began recovering, that is to say the development of Chinese Oil Painting is really on the right track. Just in the turning point of this day, a large number of artists once more put themselves into the construction of national painting team with fully enthusiasm.Author practices Shang Yang's artistic as the starting point, because of his age characteristics of the decision. Shang Yang's age has been approached 70, the arts experience acroses s nearly half a century of Chinese art history, from the "Local Customs " to "language, material exploration," and eventually to the formation of "Chinese-style big Landscape "。His artistic practice, penetrated into the period of artistic activity and changes in each stage, the art history, just confirms Chinese art since the reform and opening up to today's development context, which is the amalgamation of the New Painting from the reference copy to further explore ultimately mature. Showing of breath of his postmodern art, also consistent with contemporary art advocated to promote construction of "Chinese style" point of view. His perseverance and keen intelligence, is the miniature which those who fight the front lines in the art. In this paper, Shang Yang's painting practice as a case analysis, the study of the development of China's New Oil Painting has provided with typical significance and academic value.This paper is made up of 3 parts. The first part is "the development of Chinese oil painting after reform and opening up". It represents the history of Chinese oil painting during "early 80s", "mid-80s" and "post-modern period" from the changes of politics'and culture's perspectives. The second part is "Shang Yang's journey of art and its characteristics of the times". Author expounds Shang Yang's art experience from "Local Customs" to "the exploration of language and material" and finally to "the Chinese-style big picture" in detail, analyzes his representative trying to find the trend of Chinese oil painting from his artistic view and explore the standpoint of "the blending of the east and the west". The third part "the reflections of Shang Yang's" is the emphasis of this paper. Author praises the artist's persistent and dauntless and fully affirms his contribution to the development of Chinese oil painting. Basing on Shang Yang's painting practice, author is desirous to scan the history and future of Chinese oil painting and questions showed up during the process of "the blending of the east and the west" in light of the current trend of artistic.
