In Chinese history, Tang Dynasty is a period of great prosperity and significant influence. It has been world-wide recognized that the culture of Tang Dynasty is one of the most splendid culture. When it comes to its influence, Poetry, the essence and the irreplaceable literary form, is of the most importance. Poetry of Tang Dynasty, endowed with "Chinese Spirit", is tied up with the inner beauty of Chinese culture. Since Tang Poetry is the combination of music and literature, it can be both recited and chanted. Some of the art songs are composed with the words of Tang poetry. From the late 19th to early 20th, the Poetry of Tang Dynasty began to be translated into foreign languages and favored by poets, scholars, musicians of other countries. Some foreign art songs also adopted Tang Poetry as the translated version. Such kind of songs possess special aroma with metrical beauty and imagery fantasy. This paper takes examples of some Chinese and foreign classical art songs to explore the music literature features of art songs using poetry of Tang Dynasty as lyric of the song.
