Interpretation Of The Role Of Speech Recipient Expression From The Generalized Rhetoric Perspective

There is always one sentence in all kinds of textbooks of politics and other kinds of books: Theory comes from practice, but it is more important than practice since it serves as the guidance of practice. The subject of rhetoric serves as a guidance for language communication and it is about how to make the right choice of words and sentences according to the actual context which can enable language to perform its function best and to finally achieves the goal of communication."In the academic atmosphere of the study of Russian, it is commonly believed that'rhetoric is the discipline which studies the use of language', and it is a'functional discipline'. It aims to study how language is used in the actual'theme and context'. It is not about the abstract and general use of language. That is to say that rhetoric is closely related to the external factors of language. (экстралингвистическиефакторы)"In the past, the narrow perspective on rhetoric often puts language at the center and it narrows the study of rhetoric down to the summary of skills of expression and the stylistic distinction. It has its limitation in its theoretical foundation, depth and width. Its aim as a guidance to practice is also limited. When narrow stylistic context meets its dead end, broad stylistic context is created."Broad stylistic context is not a expansion of narrow stylistic context. It is an interactive framework of multiple layers in its own right. It is the two-way communication of two entities, namely the sender and the recipient."In broad stylistic context, the recipient is highly emphasized. It is believed that the recipient has dominant influence on communication. The recipient works with the sender and they cooperate to complete the task of communication.This thesis is based on the theories of broad stylistic context. It analyzes the position of the recipient and argues that the recipient has influence on the rhetoric stratyge of the sender. There are three parts in this thesis:Chapter One is called"The Outline of Broad Stylistic Context". In this chapter, there is a concise timeline of the development of rhetoric. This chapter also tries to compare the broad stylistic context with the narrow stylistic context and it also analyzes the theoretical source and the focus of its research. Chapter Two is"The Analysis of the Position of the Recipient from the Perspective of Broad Stylistic Context". It analyzes the process of rhetoric activities, the social impact of rhetoric activities and the interaction between entities. It analyzes the position of the recipient in the context.Chapter Three is"The Function of the Recipient and its Enlightenment on the Strategy of Expression in Rhetoric". It aims to analyze the function of the recipient. The strategy of expression is summed up according to the function of the recipient.On the whole, I come to the conclusion that the function of the recipient cannot be ignored no matter in literary works or in daily communication. On some level, the recipient determines whether a piece of literary work can realize its value or not. It also determines whether communication of language can achieve its goal or not.
