In the first person, the novel narrates a reunion 10 years after university, which then led out a killing affair happened 10 years ago. The novel consists of a story happened 10 years ago and a story happened 10 years later, and the place is a very secret garden in a city. The novel tries to create a typical character(Cong-An) who is strong in spirit and weak in the common custom life, tries to describe some of the delicate relations between the sexes, tyies to describe the difference between the spiritual life and the secular life, and also tyies to explore the meaning of life and death and existence. With A large number of excellent short stories, Liu Qingbang expressed the distant wanderer's love for his homeland, and showed a crude picture of the colliery. He also demonstrated the modern urban life in some of his works. Through the narrative of the three worlds-the village, the colliery and the metropolis, Liu Qingbang constructed a complete panorama of contemporary society. In his works, the three worlds are developing from the village to the colliery, and then to the metropolis. This is the typical path of development of modern society. In the three worlds, the "male-female relationship",which is studied in this paper,is a hidden link that connects the three worlds. Women and men constitute families, and families constitute the society. By describing the fale-female relationship in his works, Liu Qingbang disclosured the great profound changes of the whole society and the great era. This paper is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, I tried to analyse the female characters in Liu Qingbang's short stories; and in the second chapter, I tried to analyse the male characters. In the third and the fourth chapters, I put the female and male characters together and attempted to analyze and explain the delicate relationship between men and women in Liu Qingbang's works. Additionally, I also studied the changes of this relationship under the development of the age and in the different social backgrounds.Throughout the discussion process, I also analysed the "energy transfer chains" and the "loop structures" in some of Liu's works, which are rarely noticed by other researchers. Previous studies are often partial to a particular characteristic, while in this paper I attempted to study Liu Qingbang's short stories by contacting them with the fale-female relationship. I found all of his short stories have the characteristic of entirety. The modern laws of social development and the pictures of modern society embodied in his short srories have a unique meaning in the present context of literary globalization.
