Benjamin "arcades Project" Criticized The Methodology Of Research

This thesis is a study to Benjamin's criticism methodology, based on "The Arcades Project". His criticism methodology is based on his understanding to the relationship between criticism and the truth content. He believes that as an effective method, criticism could reveal the truth content of modern society, and show that the possibility of potential Utopia. Benjamin's critical theory provides us with a new mode for the research of modernity and a new perspective for the study of modern urban culture. He holds that his original methodology, such as Dialectic Image Theory and Allegorical Criticism formed in "The Arcades Project", could transcend the illusory presentation of high capitalism, challenge the alienated reality. What "The Arcades Project" left behind us, however, is a methodological difficulty:a great quantity of observations,quotations and notes, with no explanations. Thus, all these researches about Benjamin's methodology existed in this thesis will provide a little help to understand "The Arcades Project" and his critical theory.
