| Connectives are the building materials of language, apart from grammatical information; it can also convey many aspects of information. The research on connectives domestically or internationally is generally limited to the syntax level, and it can not describe and explain connectives in a panoramic way. In this paper, functional analysis was used to analyze connectives from traditional grammar, semantics, pragmatics and cognitive linguistics perspectives. The multidimensional study aims to reveal the potential function of connectives. To rethink and integrate the functions of connectives from the perspective of philosophy of language, this paper demonstrates how connectives provide evidence for the ontology of language from the inside of language. |
