As one of the world's most famous directors, Kieslowski is both a poet and a cineaste filmmaker in Polish. While Wong Kar-Wai is a very different type of film maker in Hong Kong. This thesis attempts to use parallel studies in detail for the similar two directors.The first chapter talks about the similarities between the two directors, describing the impact of the two From Existentialism. Firstly, the existential thought has influences on the French New Wave, and the two film-directors are also both affected by the French New Wave, so inevitably both the two directors'works show the prints of existential ideology and are both traced by the French New Wave.The second chapter describes how similar the two directors are. First of all, the two directors like to take the means of the duplicate background, music, characters etc,in their films as a symbol and as their film language. Secondly, Kieslowski and Wong Kar-Wai are not only good at using the montage techniques in their films, but also at arranging the same role and site to appear in their different films to arrive particularity. Thirdly, they are like to use different expression forms of music to play up the atmosphere. Thus the directors bring the audience to new rational thinking. Both of them have a special fancy for the montage skills and the same movie always has several versions, which leading the work varies by version.The third chapter talks more about the differences between the two directors. Firstly, Kieslowski lives in Poland, a socialist country. While Wong Kar-wai lives in Hong Kong, China, which is the British colony. Those above leads to that the political views of their works'are different. Finally, the two directors show unique loneliness of human survival in the post-modern environment in different ways.
