The content of this thesis is about the main films of a Polish director, Krzysztof Kieslowski. Based on a noumenal form, we try to pursue the meaning of the metaphors in a specific culture environment according to the characters of Kieslowski' s films. Mode and Culture are two cut-in points when I study Kieslowski's films. Mode, defined by David Bcrdwell, ;s a generalized definition to movie modal. Meanwhile, it is comrr.ensally and corresponding to the culture expressed formally. Robert Collar salc that Culture could be understood as the environment in which the film mode lay. It is an effect from many aspects such as politics, economics, religion, philosophy, as well as the director himself. There are several chapters discussing the metaphors in a possible culture environment whe.~e Kieslowski's films mode mainly represents like the loneliness in characters' life, the unassisted situation when individual faced political onrush, losted in the future of Polish politics and seeking for ultimate belief. In the end, I put Kieslowski' s films in 90' s film history view to draw comparisons: because of the different culture environment. The modal movie layers will appear great diversity. As a consequence, lt demonstrated that film' s culture determines its mode and the mode present culture. Therefore mode and culture actually behaved as a commensally entity in films.
