This paper focuses on the dietetic elements in Ang Lee's "family trilogy". With the nonlinguistic metaphor for theoretical tool, we can get the multi-level performance of dietetic metaphors by close reading. we summarize the significance and effect from the standpoint of sexy, culture and politics.We give the theory support in Chapter 1. In this section, we discuss the origin of the concept and development of metaphor in east and west culture, and find that metaphor has already been in the excess of "linguistics" areas on the field of humanities. Simultaneously, as a Non-linguistic symbol, metaphor can increase attractiveness of a film. Meanwhile, the diet culture already has the distinct character and rich connotation which can provide the possibility for that dietetic elements can constitute the metaphor In the movie.In the Chapter 2,we have analyzed dietetic metaphor in the "family trilogy" by close reading. Taking the movie text as the foundation, we have studied the constitution way, showing form and deep meaning of the dietetic metaphors. In order to realize the essence of dietetic metaphor in movie.In the Chapter 3, we pointed out the significance and function of dietetic metaphor. Extracted three key words:sexy, cultural, politics. From the ontology stratification plane, dietetic metaphor tactics increased the "Sexy" characteristics for movies. Looking from the cultural stratification plane,the dietetic metaphor both has manifested Ang Lee's cultural localization under the globalized background, and has provided the safeguard for movie's East and West market. From the political stratification plane, Ang Lee take this dietetic metaphor to express his political and sentimental, place his own political complex.
