Through the introduction and analysis of Laclau's view on Ideology, this paper concentrates on revealing the inner relationship between hegemony and ideology. Laclau combines the idea overdetemination and interpellation of Althusser with hegemony of Gramsci to form his own theory of Hegemony. From the new view of Hegemony, Laclau points out that:There is ideology whenever a particular content shows itself as more than itself. Ideology is the representational, metaphorical and precarious closure that stabilizes meaning within specific contexts. Within the Marxist terrain, there have been two main notions of ideology, in Laclau's view should be rejected. The first is the notion of'false consciousness'; the second, that of ideology as a necessary level of any social formation. Through this series of analysis, this paper concludes that on the one hand, Laclau's research in the operating mechanism of ideological closure complements the Marxist theory of practice, on the other hand, when post-Marxist rejects the extreme of economic determinism, they go to the other extreme neglecting the existence of any standard, which weakens the effect of their theory.
