Jiang Dan Book Art Educational Thought

Jiang Danshu ,who is a modern artist and art educator, is a pioneer in art education. He taught in number of universities, first in teaching Western painting and then changing into artistic anatomy, perspective, other basic theories and art history. He wrote many books in his life. Jiang Danshu has received China private education and school education. Finally,he graduated from Nanjing Liangjiang Normal school's drawing hand section and got the normal imperial degree, which make him became the first arts education professionals at that time. He devoted his life to art education nearly 50 years. In education and teaching,he summed up many art education ideas such as Advocacy the reconciliation of Chinese and Western arts, Support "natural selection, survival of the fittest" theory of evolution, Emphasis on art education and teaching methods, Against"Duck-stuffing"type of teaching, Importance to manual labor education thought, Attention to the importance of art education, teaching theory with practice, and so on.He is a veteran of China's art education. His ideas had a great influence on the development of art education in China. The study of art education in the educational development of Chinese modern art has a practical significance and academic significance. This thesis begins with Jiang Danshu's life and works and then digs his art education ideas and his contribution in Chinese art history to give an objective evaluation of the Jiang Danshu 's position in the modern history of education.
