The research aimed at introducing the conceptions about manual art education of Jiang Danshu into the vision of modern art education, to further explore the characteristics and practical significance of his manual art education. And also providing theoretical support and practical strategies for solving the problem that exists in the field of modern art education.Firstly, this paper focused on Jiang Danshu’s art educational experience and education thought. Jiang Danshu went through two educational system at the "old school" and "new school" alternating phases when he was in school, which laid the theoretical foundation for him. Secondly, Jiang Danshu teaching trajectory was analyzed from his craftsmanship education development. And his thought of arts education was also examined. Because of teaching at various schools in different times, and influencing of the historical trend and the replacement of national policies and other factors, each stage presented different teaching characteristics. Finally, the characteristics of Jiang Danshu artistic concept was analyzed from his manual art educationon theory, teaching practice and teaching methods. By arranging of Jiang Danshu arts education experiences and combing his manual arts education thought development, Jiang Danshu had always been committed on the "hand of education" to implement. He could be clever to combine manual labor with technology, agriculture, housework and affairs to unfold educational activities in the teaching process. He praised the practicality of hand, and value of the community, advocated a combination of contemporary art education and commercial development, and founded the Chinese education process plant. In the treatment of children’s art education, Jiang Danshu promoted the use of child labor rooted, strengthening children’s education, in order to achieve personal practice, occupational edify and inspire wisdom.
