As one of the three important links in sight singing and ear training practice teaching,sight singing teaching plays an important role on the length and status in the class of sight singing practice teaching.Different teaching materials influence the teaching effect and the realization of the teaching objectives for targeted groups.Because of the differences of the syllabus,teaching methods and curriculum,the use of textbooks in different countries differs.In the history of the construction and development of Chinese sight singing teaching materials,we have been influenced by the former Soviet Union and France for a long time.In recent years,the research and analysis of American teaching materials has began to take shape.With the purpose of learning,introduction and reference,this paper shall make an analysis and research towards ?music for sight singing(the eighth edition)?under the editorship of Robert W.Ottman,?music for sight singing(the fifth edition)?under the editorship of Thomas Benjanmin and?sight singing(the second edition)? under the editorship of Samuel Adler.And Two of the original teaching materials have been initially translated.A comprehensive analysis of the commonness and individuality of the three textbooks,from solmization,rhythm practice of reading music sore,a variety practice mode of sight singing and other creative practice has been made in the hope that it can provide valuable reference to the further publication and study of American sight singing teaching materials.
