Buddhism was introduced into China and had developed in modern times, in the backgrounds of the national crises, the mission of China Buddhism had been given the new connotation of times, that is the theory of humanistic Buddhism of which the Master Tai Xu advocated strongly. As the vicissitudes of Chinese society happened in modern times, this humanistic Buddhism theory had been the guiding ideology of eminent monks of various generations promoting the dharma.In the Chinese history, there are many eminent monk, some of them were the apprentices of Master Tai Xu and Yin Shun. Yan Pei studied the theory of the catechism, the order, the waqf, and dedicated himself into the Buddhism innovation following Master Tai Xu. Then he followed Master Yin Shun to study dharma. In his whole bumpy life, he made plenty of contribution to the Buddhism develop in cross-strait area. What's more important, he played an active role in Chinese Buddhism communication and companionship promotion between China and other countries. He took the Chinese Buddhism to the international arena successfully and led Chinese Buddhism to an modernize and internationalize way.This article is divided into six parts:PartⅠ:Introduction, including the research significance, research background and the research method in order to make sure the main idea of this article.PartⅡ:ChapterⅠ, mainly about the introduction of Yan Pei and the history of his living age.PartⅢ:ChapterⅡ, inheritance and development of humanistic Buddhism theory. The first section is mainly talk about the humanistic Buddhism theory of Master Tai Xu,Yin Shun and Da Xing. The second section is about how Yan Pei changed his mind from learning dharma to promoting dharma.PartⅣ:ChapterⅢ, the rules of humanistic Buddhism practicing of Yan Pei. Whenever we face the miseries of life, or we communicate with other people, especially the cultural transmission, "human" is the first important factor, that's because "human" is the vehicle of dharma promoting to the society. It is also incarnate the main idea of the humanistic Buddhism's view of "People-oriented".PartⅤ:ChapterⅣ, mainly related to Yan Pei's Dharma practice. His preaching movement can be divided into two parts, Buddhist monk and nun's education and overseas preaching. The nun's education breaks a new ground of the Buddhist education system. Although, Yan Pei is not the first man who preaches the dharma overseas, but he is the only man who use the different method and different words to solve the society problem for different levels of crowd. PartⅥ:Conclusion, after a brief explanation of the meaning of modernity, summarize the humanistic Buddhism preaching of Yan Pei, emphasis the successful achievement that Yan Pei got in his whole preaching life, so as to conclude that Yan Pei is a eminent Buddhist in this new modern times.
