Manchu group and Korean nationality are ethnic groups live in northeast China. There are many similar cultural phenomena between them. This dissertation hopes to arrive at a more objective understanding of their ancestor worship. To achieve its objectives, this dissertation analyses their ancestor worship at a historical developing altitude. The dissertation based on historical documents and folklore and the methods of folklore, sociology and history, and uses the research methods of document indexing and research methods of field study.Ancestor worship is an important faith field of early primitive tribes. The object of ancestor worship is divides into far ancestor and closing ancestor. The first one represents as ancestor myth, and the second one represents as funeral and sacrifice rites.Ancestor myths is the myths that explaine the source of ethnic group's ancestors. Some group behaviour and taboo infiltrated the customs of ethnic group in their development. This dissertation analyses Manchu group's cloth Curry Yong-shun Myth and Korean Jumont Myth in the view of their space background, sanctity of the mothers and the making of their own nation.Ancestor worship of closing ancestor contains the two ethnic groups'cultural information. Funeral and sacrifice rites changed with the changes of political, economic, society and religious systems. Both and Manchou group Korean nationality believe that person's soul can exists as a separate entity. Funeral and sacrifice rites and ceremonies play an active role in family unity, education of future generations, cultural heritage, and psychological comfort. On the other hand, there are negative effect just as encourage extravagance and superstition, hinder the development of social civilization.With the development of society, the traditional culture of ancestor worship impacts on society is increasingly evident. We should inherit its advantages and improve their weaknesses. It requires us to carefully study each ethic group's folk. I hope Manchou group and Korean nationality people can know more about their own Ancestor worship tradition and its social function, and to do more for their excellent traditional ethnic cultural.
