Study Of Henan Province Dengzhou The Runan Two Places Luo Volume Play

Both Luo and Juan are the traditional operas in Henan Province. Luo,which known as the "opera of the motherland", has survived and developed for about 300 years in the Central Plains. Luo remained in many places, such as Hua County which lies in the north of Henan, Tongxu which lies in the central part of Henan and most cities and towns of South of Henan. Juan is the native folk opera in the Runan County of Zhumadian city. It combined with Luo that was brought into the Runan County later and was renamed by"Luo Juan Opera". The earliest history of Luo Juan Opera was found in the Bangluo Volume of Li Luyuan's novel "Qiludeng" which was published in the times of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. This proved that the Luo and Juan should be produced during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Runan and Dengzhou County have successfully been selected as provincial "non-material cultural heritage.", because their orthodox singing style and the good development trend from the large number of breeding places of Luo Juan Opera. But with the development of the history, the performance of the Luo Juan Opera has been unable to adapt to the process of modern society. Therefore, it has become "The endagered Operas in Henan". Luo Juan Opera has been neglected in the academic community for a long time, which has less attention and research. Therefore, it has more research value and potential.This article is divided into four chapters, Chapter I and Chapter II explain that the history, the music, and the performance style of Luo and Juan. Chapter III uses cultural anthropology to analyze the reason of merging of Luo and Juan, the music form after confluence. Chapter IV introduces the development and the measures of heritage protection of Luo Juan Opera in Runan and Dengzhou County.I have been to Runan and Dengzhou for observation three times since 2008. I visited some theater artists of Luo Juan Operas and researchers who work in the Culture Bureau in order to get the information of the development history of Luo Juan Opera. Based on the filed trip and study data, I have explained the concept of Luo Opera, Juan Opera and Luo Juan Operas; the source analysis of Luo Opera and Juan Opera; the analysis of Cultural and music style of the confluence of Luo and Juan; and the similarities and characteristics of Luo Juan Opera in inheritance in Runan and Dengzhou. I combined with cultural anthropology, folklore, sociology and other related subjects to enhance the knowledge framework, rich theoretical research results of my paper.
