Watercolor from the strict sense had been introduced into China for only 150 years of history and gradually accepted by Chinese artists in subsequent years, the aesthetic characteristics of the brush work also gradually formed a Chinese characteristics. Watercolor was spread widely in China for the awareness resonated in the material painted with water, from the aspect of the pen, the material and aesthetics with the tradition of Chinese painting. Watercolor painting, as a importing species, developed from an exotic culture to being local culture, which is a process.In the last two decades of development, water color painting strokes gradually developed. Both in subject matter and performance form, the technique of writing had played an important role.This article first difines watercolor at the conceptual and ontology language and annotates the watercolor painting style aesthetic from its underlying cultural characteristics. The second section reviews the emergence and development of watercolor brush work, especially in China's development of communication. Contemporary Chinese watercolor brush work also appeared in a wide range of development trends, which is the result of reference and integration. Part III brings the focus of this article. Stress on the references and fusion of painting the watercolor in the brush work with Chinese painting, oil painting, etc., which not only enriched the language of watercolor and the expressiveness of watercolor,also extended the watercolor functionality. The point of view that the watercolor is a "small genre", "Pieces", "light music" was changed.In short, the Chinese watercolor painting develop based on the art world,not only needs to strengthen the language connotation, but also excavate the diversity in the brush work in the deep-level sense.
