Wei jin and Six Dynasties is an important period in the history of Chinese music and ballad. The art of musical and ballad poetry developed into further prosperity. On this basis, musical instruments and ballad were more closely linked.Musical communication exchanged constantly between the central plains and the foreign music culture. The musical instruments from Central Plains were improved in materials and shapes. A large number of foreign musical instruments flowed into the Central Plains. The instruments from Central Plains and foreign districts give more influence to the Scholars. With the influence gradually increasing, the development of musical instruments not only enriched the life of the scholars but also developed a substantial number of good musician writers who can play musical instruments. With the participation of the scholars, the link between musical instruments and the ballad composition further deepened.The playing of musical instruments is an important part of the performance of ballad and it affects the composition of ballad. As the material carrier of music, the instruments give an influence to the ballad composition and the ballad affected by this often have a certain artistic features.In this paper, based on previous research, I want to further explore the relationship between music and ballad. I wish this research could add something to the previous research, and provide some reference for future researchers.
