Praying to the Daoism Founder is a master piece of the peak period of China's Daoism painting. The painting is located at the Sanqing Dian of the Yongle Palace, Rui Cheng City, Shanxi Province: it is an important art piece of Chinese figure painting when Daoism developed during the Yuan Dynasty. This mural not only takes an important role in the Chinese art history, but also a very rare huge piece of art in the world art history. It contains 286 figures of different facial expression, energetic lines, vivid and rich application of colors in a grandiose composition. The painting takes the subject of all Daoism fairies are marching to pray to the founder of the Daoism. This painting shows how "Daoism" is the doctrine through the displaying the various figures such as the imperial emperors, their concubines, fairies, Jade Lady, guards and ghosts of heaven in their complicated expressions. It shows the universal philosophy that everything comes back to the beginning, the founder. The creator of the mural with a basement of the theory of the traditional Daoism and continuing of the tradition down from the Tang and Song Dynasty and, with the combination of the spirit of the time depicted different figures with an artistic exaggerated expression. The whole mural shows the Doisy theory that all life on universe live in circles, individual life and life of universe stay in harmony and coexistence and human being comes into one unit with the universe. This contains a traditional philosophy of aesthetic judgment and a strong but natural sense of living for human beings. This is also the reason why this mural has been so attractive for thousands of years and this is also the purpose of this article.Since the discovery of the mural in last sentry, it has been attracting researchers, scholars and art lovers all over the world. They paid much attention to the mural, architectures, and relocation and protection activities and wrote tremendous research articles to study this painting. Lots of new discoveries are found to the artistic characters, colors and subjects as well. The Yongle Mural although is to promote Deist theory, it contains traditional aesthetic standards in Chinese painting of People merges in one with universe, form merges into one with its spirit. Presently we lack research at this area and article regarding this area are very limited and relatively simple. This research aims to study Praying to The Daoism Founder via dependable materials of pictures, new research dates and explains the major theory of People merges in one with universe, form merges into one with its spirit, and the deep emotion of the tradition and culture and its influence to the aesthetic judgment of modern artists. This study will bring benefits for us to study traditional art theory and inspiration for modern artists to better accept, protect and develop our splendid traditional culture, and eventually, to improve our techniques and aesthetic value in art creation by bring more wonderful works to the society, and bring us a better, harmonious and beautiful society.
