On The Spirit Of Contemporary Printmaking Self Expression

Gone through the growth during the New Prints Period and the Liberation Period, the Chinese prints creation, by now, has finally relieved from the burden of history after its gradual development since the foundation of New China. And graphic artists start to consciously put the spiritual insights of them into the screen. This attempt therefore makes the contemporary graphic arts carrying the characteristics of the artists'individual spiritual implication, showing a strong spirit of self-expression. Since the new century, the Chinese prints creation has been progressing sharply fast, which has acquired great variations both in the schema and the concept. All in all, the Chinese contemporary prints mainly display two inclinations toward"version"and"image"; that is to say, strong demonstration of version in form and instantaneous trait of image in symbol become the major methods to express ideas. These transformations reflect a good tendency to the resurgence of Chinese prints. Combined with the piratical experiences in my personal creations, this paper, pays close attention to the expression of self-spirits in the prints composition; meanwhile, it makes an effort to seek potential schema language for my prints creation, and provides meaningful reference for the probe into the theories elaboration of prints schema.
