Endangered Baoan Village Language

Bao'an People is an minority ethnic group with a population of 16,000.Bao'an People mainly concentrated in Dadun, Meipo and Ganhetan, Dahejia Township,Jishishan bao'an, Dongxiang, Sala Autonomous County, Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Ninglxia Hui Autonomous Region.Mixed with Bao'an People there are also Hui, Dongxiang, Sala and Han Chinese with whom Bao'an People have close economic, social and cultural relations.In Dadun, the key concentrated area of Bao'an People, the use of Bao'an language is declining and has shown the sign of endangerment.Based on the data of the field work, this thesis not only this thesis gives a description on the language use and case studies of Bao People. Considering historical,economic, social,cultural and educational factors, this thesis discusses the reasons for the endangerment of Bao'an Language.With the method of field work, statistics,analysis, the studies mainly elaborates on the language use of Bao'an People of Jishishan, Gansu Province. This thesis also analyzes the sign of endangerment, the degrees of endangerment and the causes.This thesis is composed of five parts:Introduction is mainly for the causes and the significance of the study, literature review, the main concepts,theories and methods.Chapter One is the brief introduction to Bao'an People's history, religious belief and the relations with other surrounding ethnic groups. The characteristics of Bao'an language is also in this part.Chapter Two is the analysis of language data collected at Dadun Village. The analysis is mainly from the respects of language use of individuals,language use in community and the language use at home. The analysis is of the similarities and difference in various contexts. Chapter Three is the discussion and data analysis.Based on the data and numbers, we analyze the deep internal reasons why Bao'an language has some unique. This study also gives internal reasons for the language. Protection.
