Frederick Chopin, Poland's greatest composer, known as the "Piano Poet" to the world was the most brilliant figure in the Romantic Period, who contributed outstandingly to the development of piano in the first half of the 19th century. His music is full of classical spirit, implicit and harmonious, with romantic feelings. Chopin's Scherzo is one of most characteristic genres in his work. This thesis gives a detailed analysis "Chopin's Scherzo in B flat minor" in the aspects of the origin and development of Scherzo, its artistic features as well as musical form by giving detailed demonstration on its musical performance, musical form, harmonic tonality and musical language, and making interpretation on performing skills in terms of controlling of timbre and tempo, representation of musical image, and the using of pedal according to the writer's own performing experience. It is significant to have a deep understanding of Scherzo and interpret the performing of Chopin style.
