Shanghai opened its doors to trade in the Mid-19 century and then has gone through the process of becoming an modern city. It became a famous metropolis in the world in 1920~30s, which was filled with modernization. As a result,the city appeared an unprecedented view with extremely prosperity. The modern city of Shanghai provided an ideal backdrop for this modern women's magazine:Ling loog Women's Magazine.The Linloog Women's Magazine was published in Shanghai between 1931 and 1937.The abbreviation of the magazine is Linloog. Although this pocket-sized magazine has a petite apperance, the content of this magazine is rich, including the general knowledge of women's lives, legal knowledge, female psychology, entertainment, fashionable clothing, cartoon and so on. Artciles and photographic pictures made up the whole magazine.So Linloog is knowledgeable and attractive and women in 1930s can find any knowledge they want in this magazine.Linloog had a unique editor community which kept it popular for seven years. The goal of the magazine was "to promote the exquisite life of women, and encourage lofty entertainment in society."Female role was the most important subject in Lingloog Women's Magazine.It tried its best to construct the new Ling long woman by using the articles which were written by female authors and the pictures of women. The new Ling long woman not only had modern apperance, but also focued on improving themselves in other fields. They were on longer tied to the old family, but they still were a good wife and mother in their new family. Besides these, theyalso played important roles in the workplace. The Lingloog Women's Magazine provided a ideal space for female to apper their new image.Linloog is not only the good producer of the modern female but also the witness of the era. The magazinen not only instructed its readers how to be better housewives or keener students and told them how to manage their spare time—what to see, do, wear, and buy, but also redorded the women's living conditions in the 1930s truly.
