John Locke is an out-standing representative of British Enlightenment in the 17th century.He is also universally acknowledged as the founder of modern liberalism in the West.He absorbs nutrition from the tradition of western liberalism,and improves his thoughts with the times,which lays a solid foundation of the development of later liberalism.Locke's thoughts have great impact on western society.Many importantilosophers and thinkers have done him special studies.In china,there are also ny scholars studying on Locke.The following are some of the representativesults:the first category is study some part of Locker's philosophy;the secondtegory is introduce Locke's political philosophy on the background of the history liberalism as well as his significances;the third category is a comparativeudy of Locke with other philosophers,philosophers like Hobbes,Rousseau,Rawlsc.On the basis of previous studies,this paper aims to make a systematicalsearch on Locke's literalism with an all-side grasp of its internal relationsd logical development of laws,probing into the true meaning of politicalilosophy of liberalism and its enormous impact on the tradition of westernlitical philosophy as well as a review and prospect of its influence on modernd contemporary China.Locke's ideas of freedom have enormous contribution and far-reaching historical impact in the history the development of human political and legal ideas as well as the Western liberalism tradition.His stress on the individual freedoms,the protection of individual rights,the vigilance against government power and the framework of the constitutional government,all these have important meaning for the construction of Chinese modern legal system.
