Study Of Genetically Modified Food Safety Legislation

Genetically modified foods (GMF), which have embedded heterogenous genetic material in their genome using genetic engineering technology, included food products made of genetically modified plant,animals or micro-organisms. As a new biotechnological approach, GM biotechnology and the safety of the GMF became the focus of attention for its immaturity and uncertainty.China's GM research and industries are ranked in the world, in the attitude towards genetically modified foods, there are also different points of view in the cointry. Based on the protection of human health, the environment and the trade of GMF, it is necessary to improve domestic legislation to regulate research of GM and the industrialization process.This article is divided into three chapters except the introduction and the conclusion.The first chapter introduced the concept of genetically modified foods and the legislation controversy caused by the safety of the GMF, mainly including two different points of view. Chapter two is about the legal rules of the safety of the GMF in U.S., EU and Asia Pacific countries (Japan, Australia, South Korea). And eventually raised some methods worthy of reference, integrating the abroad state of legislation.Chapter three describes and analysis the China's current status of GMF's industry and safety, and proposed the deficiencies of the GMF safe legislation. Finally, offerred several proposal to complete the GMF safe legislation. This article is aimmed at proposing effective advices to complete our legal system of GMF safe combined with the comparative study of the relevant experience of U.S., EU and other countries and the China's actual situation.
