In the process of China's socialist modernization, the harmonious development of national defense construction and economical construction is the issue to be dealt with rightly and reasonably. Now China is under the condition of socialist marketing economy, both of them are a unity that cann't be separated. economical construction can benefit national defense construction in various ways: it can be a support, a foundation, or a protection. Nevertheless, as a public product, there is no need for national defense construction to consume rare economical resources. So our government should make a sensible choice between the resources'economical effectiveness and social effectiveness in order to promote the harmonious development. A proper handling of the relationship between them is not only one of the important components of the national defense construction ideology of the three generations of Chinese communist party leaders, but also an important practical problem concerned with the security and long-term development of our economy.Guided by Marxism, this thesis upholds uses theme tholodogy of dialectical materialism. this paper has done a systemetic analysis of the necessity of the harmonious development, and further researched on the historical background and existing problems since 1949.This paper also makes investigations on the methods of some representative foreign countries, trying to learn from their experiences and draw a lesson and providing valuable references for the realization of harmonious development of national defense construction and economical construction in China. Finally, this thesis proposed some alternative constructive strategies.
