In recent years, with the rapid development of C hina’s economy and society, people begin to focus more on their quality of life, livelihood issues become the focus of attention of the community, also become the most concern to the hearts of the people. After all, the ultimate goal of economic development is to make people’s lives better. The eighteen report of the Communist Party clearly put forward: to strengthen social construction, we must be to safeguard and improve people’s livelihood as the key. To seek the livelihood of the people benefit, look for multiple solutions to the people’s livelihood worry, solve the people who are most concerned about the most direct and the most realistic interests, Taught in schools, employment, medical, a sense of security, which has been home to live continuously made new progress, to let people live a better life. However, due to historical traditions, national culture, geographical environment and other factors in the minority areas, the local people’s quality of life is still in a quite low level. Therefore, how to improve the quality of life of the minority people, to let the people of all ethnic groups share the fruits of economic development, we need to focus on the problem.Based on this background, this paper intends to proceed from the actual situation of the minority nationality regions of Yunnan, using the method of combining qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, through building a set to conform to the local community livelihood evaluation index system, drawing up evaluation index related to people’s livelihood, to make a comprehensive evaluation on the livelihood of people in ethnic minority areas, to reflect the people’s real living standards in the national minority area of Yunnan.The full text has 6 chapters altogether. The first chapter is the introduction, mainly discusses the research background and significance, and the related literature at home and abroad are reviewed, the paper puts forward the innovation points and deficiencies. The second chapter is to the minority areas at all levels of people’s livelihood, mainly discusses every field of national minority people’s livelihood, and selects the representative indexes and makes a brief analysis of the status quo in all areas in the ethnic minority areas. The third chapter is the comprehensive evaluation of the livelihood of the people in ethnic minority areas, mainly discusses the construction principle, index screening methods, and finally constructs a set of 28 specific indicators covering economic income, education of science and technology, medical environment, public security, transportation, housing security and stability, national culture in seven areas of the people’s livelihood assessment system, wherein, the number of non- material cultural heritage will embody the feature of national culture local into system; in addition, in the aspect o f establishing a weight, adopts the method to which equal weight method and objective weighting method are combined, and successfully compiled the livelihood assessment index. The fourth chapter is the livelihood of people in ethnic minority areas of empirical analysis, based on the calculation results of the people’s livelihood index in ethnic areas(2010-2012), in the status quo of the livelihood of the people of all ethnic area are compared of vertical and horizontal. The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the study and suggestions, based on the above discussion, the conclusion of the study on the people’s livelihood has made the situation of ethnic minority regions, and we further puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions. The sixth chapter is the conclusion, we make a summary of the full text and the future work is prospected.Through the research on the livelihood of people in ethnic areas in Yunnan province analysis, we can see that in the minority areas of our province, there are still a lot of problems: first, the overall level of people’s livelihood is low, compared with the average level of the province, there being a larger gap; secondly, each national development between regions is unbalanced, around the significant difference; finally, internal ethnic area for each level of attention degree are different, so are specific areas of development coordination. Therefore, to improve the level of people’s livelihood in minority areas of our province needs further efforts.
