The industrial revolution opened the history of capitalist industrialization in 1960s. As industrial machine developed, the humans impacted nature more deeply. At the same time, the increasingly serious ecological problems prevented the human society from developing. Those problems that global warming, land degradation, air and water pollution, some plants and animals on the verge of extinction not only hindered the further development of social production, but also threatened to human’s health. In the face of the revenge of nature, people began to reflect on their own behavior. They also began to explore the relationship between human and nature, hoping that by the transformation of social development’s mode, achieving the balance of ecological system and the better development of the society. As a result, people naturally put forward some green theories which can promote social development as well as protect the ecological balance. Among all of the green theories, ecological socialism is the most influential one. As the green party candidate, the editor of capitalism, socialism and natural magazine, Kovel’s thought is very representative. He dug the capital’s nature, criticized capitalist system and reflected on the failure of traditional socialist countries. He dreamed of establishing a new society contains ecological production, democracy, freedom and equality. The purpose of this paper is to find the reasonable and limited place on Kovel’s ecological socialism inherits and transforms scientific socialism, guided by the Marxist scientific research methods, to clarify the unreasonable composition in Kovel ecological socialism and the development of its reasonable content. On the one hand, it can enrich and develop Marxism; On the other hand, we also can absorb its essence and provide theoretical reference for construction of socialism ecological civilization in our country.This article is divided into six chapters, consists of introduction, text and conclusion.The first chapter is the introduction of this article. In this part, the background of this topic and significance of the article are presented. Secondly, I analyses the research situation on this subject at home and abroad. In general, foreign scholars on the attitude to Kovel show the favor and oppose. Some studied Kovel’s main works. The attention of domestic scholars to Kovel is limited, they mainly give priority to some simple introduction;The second chapter analyzes the background of Kovel’s Ecological Socialism, that is Su Dong revulsion, the rampancy of ecological imperialism and post modernism fading, as well as the academic background, consisting of Historical materialism, Ecological Marxism and Natural philosophy. Besides, I also introduce his personal experience from a doctor to a political theorist;The third chapter builds the system of Kovel’s ecological socialism from the necessity, possibility, implement way and the idea of the future society on construction of ecological socialism, providing a theory’s premise for the next chapter;The fourth chapter analyzes the relationship between Scientific Socialism and his Ecological Socialism. through the relationship of person and nature, the criticism of the capitalist system, the way of revolution and the future of the society, pointing out that the scientific socialism is the theory source of Kovel’s Ecological Socialism; through the analysis of his place of economic crisis, ecological crisis taking the ecological standard instead of class standard and ecology center instead of the production center, pointing out his ecological socialism is the retransformation of scientific socialism;The fifth chapter is based on the fourth chapter, I explain the reasonable and limited place on Kovel’s ecological socialism inherits and transforms scientific socialism.
