A Study On The Dress Of Chinese Traditional "Judge"

The Chinese traditional study of “judge” clothes is the objective requirements of carrying forward the traditional culture and cultivating cultural confidences. It’s also the cultural foundation of building the Chinese characteristic trial ceremony. As one of the core contents of the trial ceremony, the Chinese traditional system of "judge" clothes has a long history. It began with the pre-Qin, next to the late Qing dynasty, mainly through four stages of development, namely the start-up of the pre-Qin period, the development of Han and Tang, the mature of Song and Ming, the decline of the Qing dynasty. In the evolution of thousands of years, it formed a unique system of professional clothing and had inestimable value and significance. Through an overall historical investigation of "judge" clothes system, the author thinks that the main features are the sanctity, the dramatic, the grade and the harmony. The evolutionary sequence is the sanctity of the pre-Qin, the dramatic of the Qin and Han, the hierarchical of the Tang and Song, the harmony in the Ming dynasty and the Qing dynasty attached great importance to the grade again. The law of development demonstrated that the form became rich gradually, essentially belonging to the administration, on the basis of moral codes and the sanctity was weak, the grade was strong. At the same time, the clothes contains the culture of law, including that the clothes is a symbol of traditional human ruling legal culture, reflecting the ancient Confucian legal situation, catering to the legal culture of ancient China, containing some of the modern judicial concepts, further suggesting that we must concern the positive significance of the "judge" clothes and should keep an insight into the negative significance.The study of Chinese traditional "judge" clothes is the theoretical basis and a starting point for exploring judicial trial ceremony and cultural problems. It is valuable for the development of contemporary judicial ceremony. In terms of specific situations, it is helpful to reform the insufficiencies of the current clothing and judicial ceremony, it is helpful for a comparative study of traditional judicial ceremony and international exchanges, it is helpful to cultivate modern judicial culture, it is helpful to educational reform and establish the legal faith, it is helpful to build with the Chinese characteristic trial ceremony system for "kindness, harmony and truth", and so on. The traditional culture of "judge" clothes is a precious source of wealth and wisdom which was left by our ancestors, we should carefully taste and explore. In this way can we truly learn wisdom and boost today’s development.
