With the development of science and technology, Internet makes consumers’ live more and more convenient. Apart from online shopping or online entertainment, consumers can also accept emerging Internet financial models. Thus, both Internet financial consumers’ study and this group’s protection become legal problems to us.On December 16, 2015, Chairman Xi Jinping gave a speech in the “Second World Internet Conference”, which proposed “respecting network sovereignty, safeguarding peace and security, promoting open cooperation and building better order” as the principles of Internet governance. Under this ear full of innovation and changes, the financial market is becoming more electronic and paperless. Some emerging Internet financial products, such as “third-party payment platform”, “P2P net loan” and other models came out. Consumers felt delighted and at the same time, we should also find out legal issues hidden behind it. Faced with new situation, new models and new problems, how to select an Internet financial model has become an essential decision to all Internet financial consumers. This paper analyzes the definition, legal protection and other problems of Internet financial consumers after comparing “Alipay” in China and “PayPal” in America. Scholars have made a lot of study on Internet financial and financial consumers, which provides a good foundation in writing this paper. Although there are many conclusions in both China and other countries’ analysis in Internet financial area or financial consumer study, the study in Internet financial consumers’ legal protection is relatively little. Thus, this paper will get some breakthroughs and innovations in this field.
