An Analysis Of Liberal Thought In Marx 's Doctoral Dissertation

Freedom is a very important issue in Marxist philosophy. The free thought in Marx’s "doctoral dissertation" is the inchoation of the Marx’s concept of freedom. Therefore, the research of freedom view in Marx’s "doctoral dissertation" has a very important significance on the understanding of Marx’s freedom view. In recent times, the researchers are starting from the different research angle to fuse different disciplines reasonably in a considerable extent, which has made a new development and deepening in theory. Due to the research on the free thought in Marx’s "doctoral dissertation" is very few, the free thought in Marx’s "doctoral dissertation" has not been paid enough attention by the theoretical circle. Theoretically reveals the connotation of the concept of freedom in Marx’s "doctoral dissertation" as well as highlighting Marx’s praise and abandon to the former’s freedom of thought is still a major issue to be studied. So, the direct purpose of this paper is to hope that through the discussion of the free thought in Marx’s "doctoral dissertation" to provide some theoretical reference for people to understand Marx’s theory of freedom.The main part of the thesis is divided into three chapters:The first chapter is mainly about the theory origin of the free thought in the "doctoral dissertation". The author examines the writing background of the "doctoral dissertation", and from the western free spirit, Hegel’s self-consciousness philosophy to express the influence of free thought before the "doctoral dissertation" on Marx, which is also the direct or indirect theoretical source of the concept of the free thought in the "doctoral dissertation".The second chapter is mainly about the connotation analysis of the free thought in the "doctoral dissertation" and it is the focus as well as difficulty of this paper. This chapter mainly makes a discussion from the casual freedom, self-consciousness freedom and the realization of freedom. Firstly, the author makes a compare in general on the basis of difference between Epicurus philosophy of nature and Democritus natural philosophy, from the level of freedom and casual, discussing the possibility of freedom; Secondly, through the differences in the details between Epicurean philosophy of nature and Democritus atomic theory, the author illustrate the manifestation mode of the freedom from self consciousness and re-argument level; Finally, Marx although affirmed the idea of freedom in the philosophy of Epicurus, he make a critical analysis of the negative freedom of Epicurus to convex show his ideas and implementation.The last chapter is mainly about the evaluation of the free thought in "doctoral dissertation". The author, from the orientation, insufficient and development as well as evaluation, expresses the free thought in the "doctoral dissertation", affirming the value of Marx’s doctoral dissertation. First of all, the author makes a location of the free thought from the aspects of thought and methodology. Secondly the author also points out that there is lack of the discussion to the freedom in "doctoral dissertation" and from Marx’s later philosophical studies to eliminate the points. Last but not least, the author further to make a simple description about the position and status of Marx’s freedom view from the "doctoral dissertation" in the history of western freedom, Marx thought as well as Marx free thought.In a word, starting from the text, in the interpretation of Marx’s original works on the basis of absorbing the relevant research results, from the theory of freedom of thought of Marx "doctoral dissertation" in the further interpretation.The free thought in Marx’s "doctoral dissertation" is the historical starting point of Marx’s concept of freedom, digging on the idea is the reproduction to the advancing and spreading of thinking, which is not only a logical representation process, but also a practice to explore the radical. And the criticalness in theory is not only a subversion of all conservative system, but also the only way which must be passed to the truth. Through this work, it can be found that the evolution of Marx’s concept of freedom can more clearly grasp the scientific content of Marx’s concept of freedom, and highlight its value.
