A Study On Hindus' Influence On Indian Politics

After the independence of India in the mid‐twentieth century, India retained the parliamentary democracy of the British colonial period. Due to various traditional factors, democracy in India is not running smoothly. In particular, the dominant religion in India, Hinduism, has great influence on India politics. This study attempts to analysis the ways that Hinduism influence India politics.The article will begin with the relationship between religion and politics on both history and theory perspective as a theoretical basis. Then, the article would give a description to Hinduism and Indian politics, and, then, proposes and defines the three ways that Hinduism influence Indian politics. The article will analyze the three ways separately on the basis of the work done before.The first way studied is the politics operation. Political operation involve very broad meaning, and this paper chose to analysis the political elections and political parties. In political election, the chapter analyze the effect of the Hinduism factors to the elections in India. In terms of the party politics, the article analyzes the influence on two aspect, the formation and activity of the India Sectarian parties.The second is the way of the social structure. Hindu caste system is the core teachings and of Hinduism. This part will analysis the historical roots and of the caste system, and its political manifestations of contemporary Indian caste system, and the role of the caste system in India political on both pros and cons side.The third is the way of ideas. This part contains two aspect, traditional Hindu doctrine and Hindu nationalism. For traditional Hindu doctrine, the article describes the effects on two aspects. For Hindu nationalism, the rise and its historical background, its influence to the Indian domestic policies and the national security and foreign policy were discussed.Through the analyzing of the three ways of influence of Hinduism, we can clearly see the broad impact on Indian politics brought Hinduism. This article will Deepen our understanding of India political behind Hinduism, and may contribute for China to make a more realistic and effective foreign policy to India.
