The first chain store had been founded in 1959 . Chains-coporates have been developed 150 years since then.Nowadays , chains have involved a number of industries including traiditional retailers . A typical chains-coporate has three parts:chain stores , management department, goods distribution center .Management information systems , MIS , may take the form of Transaction processing system (TPS) , Decision support system (DSS) , or Expert system (ES) , contain products and service for processing data or information . The product or service may be used to generate , record , store , destroy , manipulate , or transmit information . Information services may be provided by independent service companies , they may appear as support departments within companies , or they may be an integral part of company operations .Management information system is one of the most important elements of chains-coporate for its role in management . It can make decisions faster than a knowledgeable employee . It can make expert advice available to numerous nonexpert employees at geographically dispersed locations . Also it can increase the quality and consistency of decisions and can be used as an effective training tool and can handle important but routine job , thereby freeing up experts for more strategic decisions . Furthemore , it is the basis of rationalization of goods distribution center . In a word , management information system plays an important role in increasing the productivity of chains-coporate .My thesis revolved around the management information system duing to the underlying importance of it to chains-coporate . The thesis has four units .The first unit concerns the demand of information from mananagement of chains-coporate . The demand of information can be divided three types : the basic management information that every chais-coporate needs , the dicision support information that as assistance of managers , the value added information that may improve the product structure of coporate . In addition , the unit concludes the traits of typical store chains . In my opinion , demand of information is the start and the destination of management information system .In second unit , I define the management information system at a larger extent . I think the management information system is not only a computer based information system , but also a system consists of workers of chains-coporate , organization structure , management thoughts and environment elements . Another problem in this unit is the functions of management information system . In general , the system is concerned with getting appropriate information to managers when they need it , in a readable format . Some experts argue that the system should be an interactive , user-friendly computer-based system that utilizes both data and mathematical models to help solve unstructured or semistructured problems . Others said that the system is an computer program that mimics the behavior of an expert . Acording to unit one , I think the functions are basic management function , decision support function and value added service function . In this unit , I also refers to the error existes in the process of construction of management information system .The third unit is about the basic structure of management information system in chains-coporate . At first , I define a model of the system , in which there are five elements . Then , the computer information systems of chain stores ,management department and goods distribution center are introduced . The most basic part is the computerized transaction processing system . All firms must record economic events within the firm in the various functional areas . When the recording of these events is linked into preplanned systems and supported by computerized processing and storage , we have a computer-based transaction system . Among the most promising areas of application for MIS are mundane tasks that are common to many services , especially those processing information . Examples are contractin...
