On The Issue Of Suspension Of Concessions In The Safeguard Mechanism

Suspension of concessions makes an essential part of safeguard mechanism. It is a right vested in a WTO member when adversely affected by a safeguard measure. Its functions and attributes are analyzed in the first place. The focal point of this paper, however, is given to the restriction on this right and the questions arising therefrom. Then the conclusion drawn is: The decision on both imposing safeguard measure and suspending certain concessions must be made after careful consideration and with China's overall interests in mind.
