With the good news of China's entering into the WTO, Chinese textile industry is beginning to march towards international market on a new look. Under the WTO rules, Chinese market will be a part of the international market. Domestic textile industry can fully utilize advanced technology and vast market in developed countries. Advanced countries can make full use of the abundant resources at high quality and low price in China. This paper reviews the main agreement signed in textile and clothing industry, analyses the developing environment faced by textile industry in our country at present, and also puts forward the corresponding countermeasures. This paper can be divided into six sections. The first section introduces main agreements observed by textile industry in details, such as Trade Barrier Agreement, Country of Origin Rule Agreement, Anti-Dumping Agreement; mainly analyses the forming, characteristics and influences of the above-mentioned agreements. It also brings forward the countermeasures. In addition, this section reviews the developing background of the main textile agreement-from MFA to ATC.The second section of this paper analyses the competitive environment faced by textile industry in China. This section introduces China's status in international trade and indicates how to develop the relationships with our economic and trade partner through describing the relationships in textile industry between China and other trade partner in the world, such as Japan, America and EU.The third and fourth section of this paper foresees the developing trend of Chinese textile industry by contrast with the high level in developed countries. It also sets forth different influences on textile industry in China after its accession into the WTO and gives the corresponding countermeasures. The fifth and sixth part of this paper presents new and systematic ideas, such as in macroscopic fields: country how to regulate government function and foreign trade policy, how to make full use of foreign investment, etc; in microscopic fields, textileenterprises how to perfect the methods for textile quota inviting bids, how to develop E-Commerce and implement transnational management, etc.
