With the further development of economic reform and the improvement of market system, many Chinese state-owned enterprises have accomplished their exterior expansion and transformed into some large-sized enterprises groups by means of incorporation, purchase, and reorganization. Nevertheless, these corporation groups are faced with many problems that need to be solved as soon as possible. Of these problems, the most important one is centered on the formation, implementation, and evaluation of the groups' overall strategy, and the respective competition strategy .Prairie Dairy Group Corporation, a typical representative of such expanding enterprises, has proved by its own development that the overall strategy is essential for a corporation' s survival and development because it serves as an overall guidance and has a long-term effect. Now China has entered the WTO, it is urgent for us to find an answer on how the enterprises adapt themselves to the new changing circumstances, how they face the new challenges and grasp the new opportunities. The case of Prairie Dairy Group Corporation is aimed to seek some resolutions by discussing and analyzing the underlying problems.The case can somewhat reveal the essence of the overall strategy and the basis of strategy making and implementing. There is no doubt that the overall strategy and the competition strategy are both crucial to an enterprise. As a result, only by employing a dynamically-operated strategic point of view can an enterprise succeed in the market competition.
