The creation of copyright is a kind of brain work of humans. In the market-driven economy, the brain work aims at the optimum combination of the variety of goods every individual needs and the maximization of utility and benefits. Therefore, in accordance with the theory of lowest transaction, the system of copyright protection should coordinate the rights of the originator, the spreader and the user in the purpose of realizing the best profits from stimulating the development in civilization and society.With the thread of the system of copyright protection, this thesis gives a clear explanation to both current status of copyright protection and its cost-profit evaluation, offering rationalizational advice to the related subjects in copyright protection in the consecution of concept-form-theory-reality. The first chapter begins with the relation between intellectual property and copyright followed by the background information: the objects, content and originality of copyright protection; the history of the system of copyright protection; the new changes taking place in the internetage. Chapter 2 lays much emphasis on the action ways and mechanism of the copyright protection system. The system of copyright protection plays an important role in creating intellectual products, realizing its owner profits, maintaining producers' monopoly advantages and stimulating the spread and use of new technology. The system of copyright protection is put into practice in forms of international, national and corporational protection. Based on microeconomics, Chapter 3 sets up a cost-profit model of copyrightprotection, providing a theoretical method of choosing the rational protection system to realize the optimum of copyright. In addition, parallel import, another key issue in international copyright protection, has also been mentioned in this chapter. Consequencely, Chapter 4 provides some feasible proposals on the development of copyright industrialization and the system of copyright protection in China.
