China's Insurance Broker System Research

In the late 16th century, the Broker Institution of Insurance emerged in Britain with the development of marine insurance. Afterwards, with the development of insurance in other areas of the world, the Broker Institution of Insurance, which has spread in Europe, America, Australia and south east Asia from Britain, become an important Intermediary Institution of Insurance in the international insurance market.Since 1980' s, with the open policy, reform and establishment of market economy, the industry of finance and insurance in our country have developed rapidly. There is more and more demand for insurance brokers. The insurance brokerage is growing rapidly, and our Broker Institution of Insurance has formed gradually. In 1995, the Insurance Law of the People' s Republic of China formally confirmed the Broker Institution of Insurance as a legal form. The establishment of the Broker Institution of Insurance in our country played a very important role in promoting operative efficiency of insurance companies, safeguarding the applicants' or insureds' benefits and pushing forward insurance industry. However, the Broker Institution of Insurance in China exposed many problems in its operation. They hindered the development of insurance .The thesis studies the development of the Broker Institution of Insurance in China with theoretical research and positive analysis from the theoretical points of the new institutional economics and the information economics. After researching on the Broker Institution of Insurance in the developed countries such as Britain, the USA and Japan, it summarizes successful experiences from which we can learn much. It objectively analyzes and assesses the actuality of the Institution in China and probes into practical significance of perfecting and developing the Institution. Finally, the thesis conducts a profound study on perfecting and developing the Broker Institution of Insurance in China, and puts forward some new ideas and measures.
