The market share of the traditional Chinese commercial companies is diminishing as the competitive mechanism is introduced. In the stock market the stock market the listed commercial companies are performing far under average level. How to survive a bottleneck and blaze a new path have become the chief concern for those companies. Influenced by the government's policy of optimization those companies are beginning to accelerate the restructuring to improve heir image. The survival and the sustainable development are a current subject for concern..At present more than half of the 73 listed commercial companies have switched to other business.This article is written against a background of restructuring by most of the listed commercial companies. By taking Chengdu Hualian company as an example, the author makes a thorough study and analysis of its operations, from stock equity adjustment to change of business, to change of operational mode, to readjustment of industrial structure, and then approaches the existing problems and the new problem that may arise in the restructuring in the hope that this suggestions will be helpful to those listed commercial companies. The article breaks down into three parts.Part Ⅰ: A brief account is given of the changes of China's commercial industry and the restructuring by the listed commercial companies. A definition is made of asset adjustment and readjustment of industrial structure in terms of economy. Their mutual relations are expounded. And an analysis is introduced of the modes of the readjustment of industrial structure of China's listed commercial companies.Part Ⅱ: A review is conducted of Chengdu Hualian Company, from its being listed to its performance and financial position, from its financing to its restructuring.Part Ⅲ: An analysis is made of the problem that exist in the restructure by Chengdu Hualian Company and the readjustment of its industrial structure. Five constructive suggestions are put forth. Inspiration is drawn from the Chengdu Hualian Company in its restructuring and readjustment of its industrial structure.Finally, some suggestions are offered regarding China's listed commercial companies in the reorientation of their future industrial structure: Firstly, the restructuring of the listed commercial companies must be considered from a strategic perspective. Business structure should be analyzed and the staple should be determined. Less successful business should be phased out. Secondly, some principles should be adhered to such as timeliness principle, efficiency principle, coordination principle and the principles related to resource advantage. Thirdly, restructuring should be normalized. More attention should be paid to the impact on the staff in restructuring and to the management realignment, business realignment and external relation realignment.
