Earthquake is one of the most harmful nature disasters to humankind, with low possibility and huge disaster outstanding characteristics. Earthquake insurance, as an efficient economic method through compensating and apportioning seismic hazard, has very positive function during anti-seismic and reducing hazard program. Owing to the fundamental situation of engineering projects (especially life-line engineering) in the society, the anti-seismic research of engineering is concerned. So, the research about earthquake insurance of engineering has great realistic significance.The principle of earthquake insurance and the development of earthquake insurance of aboard and home are introduced in the article. Combining to the characteristic of engineering project and the feature of engineering insurance, some necessities for developing our country's earthquake insurance of engineering are discussed.Meanwhile, a primary method about calculating the engineering earthquake insurance rate of substance loss, which based on the two -state Poisson Model of analyzing the earthquake danger and the principle of structural dynamical reliability, is put forward. Furthermore, some advices for building and perfecting our country's earthquake insurance system of engineering are advanced.At last, on the basis of the above-mentioned research, some recommendations and perspectives are put forward.
