Artillery Element Tactic Training System, was an interactive tactic training model which car- be used to tactic teaching and training by commanders of artillery battalion and battery. It is developed r ,1 the basis of the factual condition of our artillery element's tac:ic training according to the needs of our army' military struggle. To build a mod. -1 with high exactness and good applicability which can output military digital map and make analysis of terrain condition, is the foundation of developing the system .In this paper, we studied the distributing appearance and combinating regulation of terrain elements, analysized the basic operational functions of terrain, bringed up the basic principles of terrain analysis, and described the main content, method ind step of terrain studying and terrain analysizing with digital map,Therefore,we have discovered the substance and basic regulation of terrain studying and analysizing.Based on the demands of our artillery elements' operation and training, we described terrain elements by means of quantified method ofhalfexperienceandhalftheory, experionce, statistics, strictness, inflected the interrelation of the decisive factor objectively which can influence the operational process, established the index of each terrain element which need to be handled in the process of digitalizing the military map. Meanwhile ,we built models of data collection, soeciai point's altitude handling, grid point's altitude handling, designed a method which can rapidly collect and process terrain data by descripting the contour line with mouse, and designed corresponding software by C++Builder5.0.Therefore ,military digital maps can be facilitly and quickly made and computer-aided terrain analysis can be realized, thus the system can effectively help the commanders or staffs make their decision.
