Since 1990s, both internal and external environments of Japan's trade policy have gone through large changes. The development of economic globalization and regionalization has expanded the dimensions of Japan's trade policy, but it put forward challenges also. At the same time, the long-term stagnation of Japan's economy and decline of its competitiveness on foreign trade add more tasks to its trade policy. Based on the key influencing factors, this paper analyzed the characteristics and future trends of Japan's trade policy on aspects of multilateral trading system, regional and bilateral cooperation, local market opening and harmonization of internal and external economic policies. Based on these research, this paper also explored trade scale, trade structure and trade relations between China and Japan.
