Entering the information age, the informatization of Chinese enterprises has been extended and deepened along with the accelerated growth of national economy, which not only brings the enterprises an advanced and efficient management tool as well as a whole set of modern management method and thoughts, but also provides a stage for innovation and reformation.Middle and small sized enterprises play an important role in Chinese economy, which take place of 99% out of the national enterprises in structure, 60% and 40% of the gross domestic product and profits tax respectively. On the other hand, middle-small-sized enterprises take no means of advantage in capital, human resource, information, marketing and management comparing with these large-sized ones. It emerges an essential problem--how to apply information technology to transform the traditional industries and to elevate the competitiveness of the middle-small-sized enterprises, for which the author strives to explore a characteristic way through the case introduction and analyses of a middle-sized pharmaceutical enterprise along with the deep research of the problems to come over within its informatization.Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), as a set of modern management concept and method backed by information technology, has been known in China for 20 years and yet wildly used in most large sized enterprise. Moreover ERP plays a role as the "synonym" of management software, standing for an image of overall and comprehensive management, which then makes it mistaken as the "privilege" of the advanced enterprises whereas "unrelated" with the middle and small sized ones for the reason of their small sized economy scale, small number of employee and simple and direct administration. The author believes ERP is determined to be the choice of the middle and small sized enterprises, especially these manufacturing ones, in the end with the increasing strength of marketing competition and the growing stress of using information technology to upgrade management and enhance productivity. Therefore the author points out the difficulties and successes in the course of the implement of ERP and contributes it as a reference to the middle and small sized enterprises. The essay composes of four parts. The first part briefly introduces the concept, principle and history as well as the implement and development of ERP.The second part, based on the general view and development strategy of the H Pharmaceutical enterprise, analyzes the industry background, the strength and weakness, opportunity and threaten and accordingly states the necessary and feasibility of the implement of ERP to meet its strategy and market.Through the practical and potential needs analyses, in the third part, the author presents the general program plan with a core structure and then explains the undertaking process and progress.As for the fourth part the author intends to assess the performance, discusses the key essences of success and the triple relationship in informatization as well as the main characteristics.
